General Requirements

General requirements are the specifications and standards that apply to a construction project as a whole. They typically include broad provisions that are applicable to all aspects of the project and are not specific to any particular trade or discipline. General requirements may cover items such as project management, permits and approvals, insurance, bonding, safety, scheduling, quality control, and project documentation. These requirements set the overall expectations and framework for the project and are usually included in the project's contract documents.

General Conditions

General conditions, on the other hand, refer to specific contractual terms and conditions that govern the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of the parties involved in the construction project. General conditions are typically part of the contract documents and outline the legal and administrative aspects of the project. They cover topics such as contract administration, dispute resolution, payment terms, changes and modifications to the contract, warranties, and termination provisions. General conditions define the relationships and interactions between the owner, contractor, subcontractors, and other parties involved in the project.
